The Ancient Craft of Lost Wax Casting

Melted, casted, teasured forever

We love jewellery with a story. Our lost wax casting process allows us to create truly one-of-a-kind pieces that capture texture, detail, and personality in a way no other method can.

The process begins with us creating a wax model, carefully shaped by hand using melted wax. We incorporate precious and semi precious stones into our wax piece depending on the design we are creating. This wax form is then used to create a mould, into which molten gold or silver is poured - this process is called casting.

When the wax melts away, what’s left is a piece of jewellery that’s completely unique so no two will ever be exactly the same. We will then finish, set stones and polish your special piece, ready for you to treasure.

Whether you want to create something from scratch, re-design an existing piece, or explore our collection of cast designs, lost wax casting is the perfect way to own jewellery that is both timeless and personal.

All our designs are organic and will therefore be quirky and unique.

We can create lost wax designs in 9ct yellow, white and red gold, platinum and silver.

“Just as every pomegranate is filled with countless seeds, each one unique and full of possibility, so too does the lost wax casting process give birth to jewellery that can never be repeated. The wax melts away, leaving behind a singular impression — a moment captured in metal, set with stones chosen by hand. At Pomegranate, we believe in jewellery that carries meaning, pieces that tell stories of love, memory, and individuality. Our name reflects this abundance: a symbol of life, beauty, and treasures within. Through lost wax casting, we honour tradition while creating modern heirlooms, jewellery as rare and personal as the seeds of a pomegranate itself, join us on creating your bespoke piece.”

The Lost Wax Casting Process

We will work with you to create your design and will then begin sketching and creating it in wax using the build up method. If you have chosen to incorporate stones we will build these into the design so you can see how the finished design will look. The stones will then be removed for casting.

Design Creation

Casting

Your ring will be cast in your choice of metal by attaching your wax design to a central casting tree, creating channels for the molten metal to flow into each piece. Once the tree is placed into a mould and the wax is melted away, molten metal is poured in to replace the wax design.

Setting Stones & Finishing

After cooling from casting, the individual pieces are cut from the tree, sprues are removed using a saw blade and then your stones will be set and the design will be finished and polished by hand.
